There are many different ways we could distribute our Crime film opening. One of these ways includes marketing and distributing the footage independently on video sharing sites, such as YouTube, Dailymotion or Flickr. Another way we could use to help distribute our opening to our Crime film is to use small local distribution companies such as Paramount Pictures UK, Optimum Releasing or Universal Pictures UK, instead of sharing it independently. We could also try distributing it at small film festivals, where good films often go on to become more successful and can help show off our hard work that went into the project.
Age ratings determine what sort of audience the film would most likely bring in to watch the film. The recommended audience for the film is categorised by the BBFC (British Board of Film Classification) where they give a rating based on whether the film is suitable for young children to mature audiences -
| U Rating (Universal, All Ages) |
| PG Rating (Parental Guidance, General viewing but some scenes may be unsuitable for young children) |
| 12 Rating (Suitable for 12 years or over, used for films on DVD's) |
| 12A Rating (Suitable for 12 years or over, used for films in Cinema) |
15 Rating (Suitable for 15 years or over)
| 18 Rating (Suitable for adults aged 18 or over) |
R18 Rating (Restricted, To be shown only in specially licensed cinemas, licensed sex shops, and to adults of no less than 18 years)
If I were to rate the opening only, I would most likely give it a rating of '12' based on the moderate language and scenes of threat but use of drugs is almost absent, violence is extremely mild, horror is not shown at all and no sex references or scenes are included, what-so-ever.
However, if it was a complete film, more drug use, violence, threat, stronger language and possible sex references may be included. In my opinion, it would increase to a certificate rating of '15' if we had filmed the whole thing instead of just the opening.
